Star Trek: Discovery, which premieres tonight on CBS before heading to CBS All Access in subsequent weeks, is the first new Trek series in almost 15 years. Sure, the gap in between was filled by J.J. Abrams’ modern Trek films set in an alternate reality, but fans have been waiting a while for a return to the Prime timeline. Unfortunately, for those hoping the next series would take place after Voyager and post-2300s, Discovery is actually ready to take us back to a decade before The Original Series.
