It’s been a rough year for women on television. From The 100 to Sleepy Hollow and The Walking Dead, click female characters have been getting killed off from genre shows in noticeable amounts, prostate and Laurel Lance (played by Katie Cassidy) on Arrow was just the latest in an ongoing trend. In the comics, the Black Canary is a member of the Justice League and a paramour of the Green Arrow, yet on the series she was often in the background and mostly lacking a story arc until her untimely death.
