Seth Grahame-Smith in Talks to Direct The Flash
The Flash will be speeding into theaters with first-time film director Seth Grahame-Smith at the helm. The best-selling author of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is in negotiations to direct and write Warner Bros.’ feature film. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie) had already written a treatment for the film and planned to direct, but instead the duo are taking on the Han Solo Star Wars movie. The Flash starring Ezra Miller debuts in theaters Mar. 3, 2018. [THR]
Harry Potter Prequel Fantastic Beasts Adds Jon Voight, Gemma Chan and Carmen Ejogo
The Harry Potter universe is getting larger, as Jon Voight, Gemma Chan and Carmen Ejogo have joined Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Filming on the prequel is currently underway in England with Eddie Redmayne starring as Newt Scamander, the wizarding world’s famous magizoologist. No word yet on who the new actors are playing, but Harry Potter director David Yates is back and shooting from a script by Rowling herself. Chan is best known for starring in AMC’s Humans, while Ejogo recently appeared in Selma. Veteran actor Voight can currently be seen in Showtime’s Ray Donovan. Nancy Drew TV Series in the Works at CBS
Supergirl could soon have a new female friend on CBS. A Nancy Drew TV series is in development from Grey’s Anatomy writers Joan Rater and husband Tony Phelan. In this adaptation of the iconic book series, Nancy is in her 30s and a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world. The franchise has previously inspired two TV series, a TV movie and five films, including one starring Emma Roberts. [THR]
