‘Black Sails’ Trailer: A War Is Coming

Season 3 of Black Sails will finally introduce the infamous Blackbeard, played by Ray Stevenson. A new trailer released by Starz teases Captain Flint’s (Toby Stephens) new adversary, who will turn all of his men against each other. And with Flint slowly crossing over into madness, it’ll be up to John Silver (Luke Arnold) to get him back, while Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz) and Captain Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) struggle to secure Nassau after Eleanor Guthrie’s (Hannah New) departure. Black Sails returns January 2016.

Netflix Orders 7 Original Kids Series, Including ‘Lego Bionicle’ and ‘The Croods’

Netflix is upping its kids’ programming yet again, announcing the pickup of 7 new original series including Lego Bionicle, Lego Friends and Dawn of the Croods. Skewing more towards tweens, Netflix is also adding live-action series Lost & Found Music Studios, stop-motion comedy Buddy Thunderstruck, superhero series Glitter Force from Saban and Latin American fantasy Las Leyendas. On top of these new offerings, Netflix already has reboots of Care Bears and The Magic School Bus in the works for late 2015 and 2016. [Variety]

Class - Doctor Who Spinoff Series

Doctor Who is going YA with new BBC Three spinoff series Class from The Knife of Never Letting Go young adult author Patrick Ness. The eight-episode series will be set in contemporary London, where incredible dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space. With darkness coming, students from Coal Hill School are the only ones who stand in the way. Executive producer Steven Moffat describes the series as “This is growing up in modern Britain – but with monsters!” As for Ness’, he says: “I can’t wait for people to meet the heroes of Class, to meet the all-new villains and aliens, to remember that the horrors of the darkest corners of existence are just about on par with having to pass your A-Levels.” Filming begins spring 2016 in Wales for a premiere later in the year.
