‘The Jungle Book’ Trailer: I Know What You Are

Jon Favreau’s (Iron Man) live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book reinvents the 1967 animated classic for a new generation. Most of the catchy tunes and playful vibe have been replaced by a more serious tone.  Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong’o, Giancarlo Esposito and Christopher Walken star as the film’s cast of animal characters, with newcomer Neel Sethi playing the lovable Mowgli. The first trailer introduces viewers to an exquisite CGI world where animals walk and talk like everybody else. The Jungle Book debuts April 15. 

‘Allegiant’ Trailer: What’s Beyond the Wall

Allegiant marks the beginning of the end for the Divergent series, and a new trailer teases what’s in store as the final chapter draws to a close. The first minute looks back at Tris’ (Shailene Woodley) initiation into Abegnation and her rise to becoming Divergent. But beyond the city’s walls, Tris and Four (Theo James) discover an even stranger truth: David (Jeff Daniels) tells them Tris is the key to saving the entire world. Allegiant hits theaters March 18.

Elizabeth Banks in Talks to Direct ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Reebot

Good morning, angels. Sony has started development on a reboot of Charlie’s Angels with Elizabeth Banks at the helm. Banks is reportedly in negotiations to direct the new film, about three women working as private investigators. The studio and producers will begin a search soon for a writer to tackle the reboot. Charlie’s Angels last got the big-screen treatment in 2000, starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. After making her directorial debut this year with Pitch Perfect 2, Banks is also attached to direct YA fantasy Red Queen at Universal. [THR]

Woody Harrelson to Star as Villain in ‘War of the Planet of the Apes’

Hunger Games actorWoody Harrelson will become a very different kind of soldier in Fox’s War of the Planet of the Apes, the third film in the rebooted franchise. After a starring role as President Lyndon B. Johnson in LBJ, Harrelson is set to play a character simply known as Colonel. Matt Reeves, who directed 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is back to helm the film from a script by returning screenwriter Mark Bomback. Shooting begins this fall in Vancouver for a July 14, 2017 release date. [Variety]
