‘Mockingjay’ Trailer: Things We Love Most

The latest teaser trailer for the final film in the Hunger Games franchise takes fans back to where it all began, focusing on the relationship between Katniss and her little sister Prim. It was Katniss who took Prim’s place in the reaping, an action that eventually led to her becoming the Mockingjay and the symbol of the rebellion. Yet as President Snow says in the trailer, “It’s the things we love most that destroy us,” hinting at perhaps a darker end to the series. Mockingjay – Part 2 opens Nov. 20.

Moby Dick is a story larger than life, but as it turns out inspired by the true events from Ron Howard’s In The Heart of the Sea. The new trailer features stars Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, Benjamin Walker and Tom Holland (Marvel’s new Spider-Man) who must survive in the middle of the Pacific Ocean after a whale sinks their ship. Based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s award-winning novel, In The Heart of the Sea releases in theaters on Dec. 11.

On Halloween night, the dead will be brought back to life with the season 2 premiere of French drama Les Revenants. SundanceTV’s The Returned, as the show is called in the U.S., follows dead people in a mountain town who suddenly and unexpectedly reappear as if no time has passed. The new season will pick up six months after the last one left off in 2013. EW has the first look at the new season and its cast of creepy characters.

A TV adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist will be just as mysterious as the original novella. Scream producer Dimension Television and writer Christia Torpe, who created the Danish series Rita, are developing the project for the small screen. The Mist was previously made into a film by The Walking Dead creator Frank Darabont. With both the book and movie as influences, the series will tell an original story about a seemingly harmless mist that brings a small town’s darkest demons to life. [The Wrap]

TV miniseries Roots gave Star Trek actor LeVar Burton his start in the acting business, and now 40 years later a new cast will tell the story again. Oscar winners Forest Whitaker and Anna Paquin, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman and Erica Tazel have been cast in A&E’s new eight-hour remake. They join English actor Malachi Kirby in the lead role of Kunta Kinte, previously played by Burton, Rege-Jean Page and Laurence Fishburne. Production on the American slavery epic has started in New Orleans and will soon move to South Africa. [Deadline]
