For every Sinister, sick online Insidious, treatment and Paranormal Activity that gets released, generic there are very few horror movies that manage to intentionally straddle the line of comedy and terror. One of the most popular ones in recent memory is Drew Goddard’s The Cabin in the Woods. The film grossed over $66 million worldwide and took the number three spot opening weekend, all on a budget of just $30 million. Critic reviews were also positive, with many praising the movie’s ability to combine funny and scary.
