Winona Ryder Confirms ‘Beetlejuice’ Sequel
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! Winona Ryder has joined Michael Keaton and Tim Burton in summoning up a Beetlejuice sequel. While on Monday’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, the actress confirmed a follow-up to the hit 1988 film is definitely happening: “Um, I think I can confirm it, because Tim Burton did this interview — like, it was very hush hush, top secret … and then he was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah we’re doing it and Winona’s going to be in it.'” Keaton first alluded to the news in February 2014 when he told MTV he’d spoken to Tim and the writer a couple of times, “but all really, really preliminary stuff.” Then in December, Burton at last revealed a script was completed and the movie “was closer than ever.” [EW]
The CW Developing ‘The Notebook’ TV Series
Nicholas Sparks has found the perfect new home for his bestselling love story. The CW is developing a TV adaptation of The Notebook. Based on the hit novel and 2004 film, which starred Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, the series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie, at the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina. Todd Graff (Bandslam) will pen the pilot. [EW]
