Harry Shum Jr. and Alan Van Sprang Join ABC Family’s ‘Shadowhunters’
The cast of ABC Family’s Shadowhunters is almost complete. Harry Shum Jr. (Glee) and Alan Van Sprang (Reign) have joined the upcoming fantasy drama in very important, key roles. Shum will play the high warlock of Brooklyn, Magnus Bane. He has eccentric style, is fierce, cunning and keeps his cards close to his chest. Even though he looks like he’s in his 20s, he’s actually hundreds of years old, making him wiser and wary of others.
And Van Sprang will recur as villain Valentine, a mysterious Shadowhunter with immense power who is willing to execute anyone who gets in his way. His stoic, charming, and confident presence allows him control over his many followers. Based on Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments book series, Shadowhunters follows Clary Fray who discovers on her 18th birthday that she’s a human-angel hybrid destined to hunt and kill demons. McG (Charlie’s Angels) will direct the first episode. [TVLine, Deadline]
