ABC Fall 2015 Shows
Third in line and presenting their fall 2015-2016 schedule on Tuesday is ABC. The network kept most of their 2014 slate, including some surprising renewals, and still managed to pick up ten new series with a lot of potential. Dramas and comedies renewed were Agent Carter (returning midseason), Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, American Crime (returning midseason), Black-ish, Castle, Fresh Off the Boat, Galavant (returning midseason), The Goldbergs, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Last Man Standing, The Middle, Modern Family, Nashville, Once Upon a Time, Scandal and Secrets & Lies (returning midseason).

The Muppets on ABC
The Muppets return to prime time with a contemporary, documentary-style show that, for the first time ever, will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires; a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.
Written by executive producers Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory) and Bob Kushell (Anger Management). Randall Einhorn and Bill Barretta are also executive producers.
The series will air Tuesdays at 8pm, starting Sept. 22.
Quantico on ABC
A diverse group of recruits have arrived at the FBI Quantico Base for training. They are the best, the brightest and the most vetted, so it seems impossible that one of them is suspected of masterminding the biggest attack on New York City since 9/11.
Stars Priyanka Chopra, Jake McLaughlin, Aunjanue Ellis, Yasmine Al Massri, Johanna Braddy, Tate Ellington and Graham Rogers. Written by Josh Safran (Gossip Girl, Endless Love). Executive producers are Josh Safran, Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper.
The series will air Sundays at 10pm, starting Sept. 27.
Blood & Oil (previously Boom) on ABC
Billy (Chace Crawford, Gossip Girl) and Cody Lefever (Rebecca Rittenhouse, Red Band Society) dream of a new life and move to “The Bakken” in North Dakota, booming after the biggest oil discovery in American history. They’re soon pitted against a ruthless tycoon who forces them to put everything on the line, including their marriage.
Also stars Don Johnson (Nash Bridges, Miami Vice), Delroy Lindo, Amber Valetta, Scott Michael Foster (Chasing Life), and India De Beaufort. Written by Josh Pate and Rodes Fishburne. Executive producers are Tony Krantz, Josh Pate, Rodes Fishburne, Drew Comins, and Don Johnson.
The series will air Sundays at 9pm, starting Sept. 27.
Of Kings and Prophets on ABC
An epic Biblical saga of faith, ambition and betrayal as told through the eyes of a battle-weary king (Ray Winstone), a powerful and resentful prophet and a resourceful young shepherd on a collision course with destiny.
Also stars Haaz Sleiman, Maisie Richardson-Sellers (The Originals), Oliver Rix, Simone Kessell, James Floyd, Mohammad Bakri and Tomer Kapon. Written by Adam Cooper & Bill Collage. Executive producers are Adam Cooper, Bill Collage, Jason Reed, Reza Aslan and Mahyad Tousi.
The series will air in 2016.
The Catch on ABC
From Shondaland’s Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, The Catch is a new thriller centered on the strong, successful Alice Martin (Mireille Enos, The Killing). She’s a fraud investigator who’s about to be the victim of fraud by her fiancé. Between her cases, she is determined to find him before it ruins her career.
Also stars Alimi Ballard, Jay Hayden, Jacky Ido, Rose Rollins and Elvy Yost. Written by Jennifer Schuur. Executive producers are Jennifer Schuur, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Julie Anne Robinson.
The series will air in 2016.
Wicked City on ABC
Each season Wicked City will follow a different case set in a different noteworthy era of LA history, starting with a murder case from 1982 centered on the rock and roll, cocaine-infused revelry of the Sunset Strip. Alliances are formed between detectives, reporters, drug dealers and club-goers to solve a serial murder case.
Stars Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl), Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story), Gabriel Luna, Karolina Wydra, Holley Fain, Anne Winters (Tyrant, The Fosters) and Erika Christensen (Parenthood). Written by Steven Baigelman. Executive producers are Steven Baigelman, Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman and Laurie Zaks.
The series will air in 2016.
The Family on ABC
This thriller follows the return of a politician’s young son who was presumed dead after disappearing over a decade earlier. As the mysterious young man (Liam James, The Killing) is welcomed back into his family suspicions emerge — is he really who he says he is?
Also stars Joan Allen, Allison Pill (The Newsroom), Margot Bingham, Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights), Floriana Lima, Madeleine Arthur, Rarmian Newton, Rupert Graves (Sherlock) and Andrew McCarthy. Written by Jenna Bans. Executive producers are Jenna Bans, Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, and Laurie Zaks.
The series will air in 2016.
New ABC Comedies
Dr. Ken on ABC
Doctor turned actor/comedian Ken Jeong (Community, The Hangover), plays Dr. Ken, a brilliant physician with no bedside manner. He is always trying to be a good doctor, as well as a good husband and dad to his two kids. However, these good intentions have a way of driving everyone crazy at both work and at home. Luckily, his therapist wife Allison (Suzy Nakamura) is just the right partner to keep things sane.
Also stars Tisha Campbell-Martin, Dave Foley, Jonathan Slavin, Albert Tsai and Krista Marie Yu. Written by Jared Stern, Ken Jeong, and Mike O’Connell. Executive Producers are Jared Stern, Ken Jeong, John Davis, John Fox and Mike Sikowitz, with Mike O’Connell as co-executive producer.
The series will air Fridays at 8:30pm, starting Oct. 2.
The Real O’Neals on ABC
A contemporary take on a seemingly perfect Catholic family, whose lives take an unexpected turn when surprising truths are revealed. Instead of ruining their family, the honesty triggers a new, messier chapter where everyone stops pretending to be perfect and actually starts being real.
Stars Martha Plimpton, Jay R. Ferguson, Noah Galvin, Mathew Shively, Bebe Wood and Mary Hollis Inboden. Written by David Windsor and Casey Johnson. Executive producers are David Windsor, Casey Johnson, Brian Pines, Dan McDermott and Dan Savage.

Uncle Buck on ABC
Based on the hit movie of the same name, Uncle Buck (Mike Epps) is a fun loving but irresponsible guy who needs a job and a place to stay. By happy coincidence, his nieces and nephew’s Nanny has just quit and his brother and sister-in-law need his help. His unconventional personality just may make him the right fit for the family and they may be the answer to his problems, too.
Also stars Nia Long, James Lesure, Iman Benson, Sayeed Shahidi and Aalyrah Caldwell. Written by Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley. Executive producers are Steven Cragg, Brian Bradley, Will Packer. Co-executive producers are Korin Huggins and Phil Traill.

It’s hard to pick a standout when all of the promo posters make every show look identical. Wesley Snipes’ show looks like it could be the most fun.
Hmm. I mean promo art is promo art, but I think they did a good job distinguishing them. The Player and Game of Silence though are definitely tied for worst promo art. I think FOX and ABC did a better job.
ABC definitely seems to be gearing up to dominate. They’re in a better position than NBC, at least.
Promo art has just become generic over the past few years.
