No job is too big, nor apparently too small, for Ant-Man, Marvel’s latest superhero, whose big screen adaptation releases in theaters this summer. A new trailer for the film unveiled today offers a better look at the titular hero and his nemesis Yellowjacket in action. Both use similar suits, so Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) will need to learn to control his new powers if he has any hope of defeating Darren Cross (Corey Stoll). Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly also star in the movie directed by Peyton Reed, which debuts July 17th. [YouTube]
The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse continues to grow, as Olivia Munn has now joined as the ninja with telepathic abilities, Betsy Braddock, aka Psylocke. Director Bryan Singer announced the news today via social media, where he also recently revealed that Lana Condor will play Jubilee. Other newcomers to the franchise include Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Ben Hardy as Angel and Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse. Get ready because Battlestar Galactica alum Katee Sackhoff is about to make it Rain, with her new series from Continuum producer Reunion Pictures. A triple threat, she’ll not only star in the project but also write and executive produce. The drama is set in a future world plagued by the effects of global warming and burning of fossil fuels. Rain is a soldier trapped in this future created by man’s own hand. Sackhoff also currently co-stars in Longmire. [Deadline]
Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) will write the script for Marvel’s first female-led superhero film, Captain Marvel. The studio had reportedly been searching high and low for a female screenwriter, so now the search is on for a female director to helm the film about Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien, giving her superpowers.
