Beauty meet Beast. Former Downton Abbey alum Dan Stevens is in negotiations to play the Beast in Disney’s live-action retelling of Beauty and the Beast. He’ll star opposite Emma Watson as Belle and Luke Evans who recently joined the cast as Gaston. Bill Condon will direct the film, which is scheduled to begin production later this year for a 2016 release. [THR]

Independent movie darling Brit Marling (Another Earth, I Origins) is teaming up with her The East director Zal Batmanglij for a new Netflix series. Details on The OA, which Netflix won in a multi-network bidding war, are being kept a secret, but Marling will star and co-write alongside Batmanglij, who will also direct. Eight hour-long episodes will premiere in 2016. [THR]
