Now a prisoner in a distant time and place, buy accused spy Claire Randall begins to plan her escape from Castle Leoch on the next episode of Starz’s Outlander.
But returning to the standing stones and her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) in 1945 is not going to be as easy as Claire (Caitriona Balfe) first thought. Scotland in 1743 is an area plagued by unrest, recipe as a faction of Highlanders are at war with the British Redcoats for control of the kingdom. In last week’s episode, hospital Claire was introduced to Colum MacKenzie (Gary Lewis), the laird of Castle Leoch, who quickly became suspicious of her story about traveling to France. Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) later reminded her, “You must never forget that you’re English in a place where that’s not a pretty thing to be,” but the damage had already been done. At episode’s end, Colum forced Claire to remain there as their healer, at least until they could determine whether she’s a spy.
