Radar Watch: ‘Star Wars’ Faces Untimely Delays, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Gets a Cast Upgrade and More!

Star Wars - Harrison Ford

Use the Force, Han

What started off as a small injury with the Millennium Falcon door could mean big changes for Star Wars: Episode VII, which is still scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 18, 2015. Yet now that Harrison Ford is heading back to the U.S. for rehab following a broken leg, all bets are off on what this could mean and when he may return to continue filming. [Jedi News]

Out with the Old, In with the New

Old characters leave and some eventually return. Following the departure of long-time star Sandra Oh from Grey’s Anatomy last year, ABC has at last filled that void and promoted Caterina Scorsone, who currently recurs as Derek’s sister Amelia Shepherd after hopping over from spinoff Private Practice, to series regular for the show’s upcoming 11th season. It’s always exciting when an actor from a fan-favorite series is cast in something new, even if it is something that has been thrice-remade. Former Alias star Carl Lumbly (Agent Dixon) has joined A&E’s upcoming series The Returned as Pastor Leon Wright opposite Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Just don’t confuse this one with French series Les Revenants or U.S. adaptation Resurrection or any number of others with a similar premise. [THR]

What Goes Around, Comes Around

Home of the edgy Orphan Black, BBC America is about to take another walk on the dark side with Intruders. The first trailer for X-Files alum Glen Morgan’s new series features the unholy trifecta: creepy figures, creepy voices and creepy children. Let’s just say, don’t watch this one alone when it premieres August 23rd at 10PM. [YouTube]

There is a Season, Turn, Turn, Turn

Mad Men is ending, the premiere of Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul has been pushed to 2015 and new series Halt and Catch Fire isn’t doing too well. So it shouldn’t be too surprising that AMC has decided to renew their mediocre hit, Revolutionary War drama Turn, for a second season. But I hear the series shows promise, so maybe this is a good choice to give it room to grow. [Zap2It]

Steven Soderbergh is well known for exploring humanity’s seedy underbelly, and he’ll next do so on TV for Starz. The acclaimed director of Sex, Lies and Videotape, Traffic, Erin Brockovich and Contagion is set to bring his 2009 film The Girlfriend Experience to premium cable as a 13-episode anthology series about prostitutes, concubines or mistresses and the relationships they have with their clients.
