Despite Suburgatory‘s third season not doing very well, sale or perhaps in spite of it, order ABC greenlit a new comedy pilot from Suburgatory creator Emily Kapnek about a month ago. With the pickup, link Selfie, along with Damaged Goods from Awkward creator Lauren Iungerich, joined the network’s list of 11 comedy pilots awaiting a series order in May.

Now the next step is finally in place, as Kapnek’s thing for redheads (see Suburgatory’s Jane Levy and the animated series As Told by Ginger) has reared its head yet again. Karen Gillan – who last graced our TV screens on Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV and as Doctor Who‘s companion Amy Pond – has signed on to star as the female lead in a new show called Selfie.
