Review: Sometimes you have to sacrifice a pawn to motivate your knights.

There’s this rule in the television world that a couple can only be happy for so long before something or someone needs to come around and muck it up. This week on Nikita we get to meet that someone in the form of a woman from Michael’s past.

It’s sad because while Nikita and Michael have made it their sole mission to fight the wrongs of the past, as they glance back through the “Looking Glass”, it seems those sins aren’t content to let them be free.

Amanda: Sometimes you have to sacrifice a pawn to motivate your knights.

In fighting and in war, Nikita is always so focused and controlled, but when it comes to matters of the heart, well, let just say, we’ve seen glimpses of Nikita’s jealousy recently in “Knightfall” and this time it’s no different. But really, what did she expect? Michael’s worked as a spy for a number of years, he was bound to leave a trail of women behind him. Still, I was just as surprised as her to know Cassandra had secretly given birth to his son. If Nikita decides to tell him or not, there’s going to be big consequences.

I’m straddling the line of deciding whether I like that the show went there with Michael having a son with another woman or if I find the whole thing much too out of left field. I suppose the circumstances are entirely possible, but I think the drama it creates for them is somewhat contrived.

Elsewhere, Amanda did a lot of dirty work this week by letting poor Agent Lisa get killed by Ovechkin just so she can get Alex and Sean to kill him because Alex had already refused. This new Division is looking a lot more like old Division by the week. I guess it’s true, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
