Season two of Pretty Little Liars has so far been a little on the slow side. Too much talking and external storylines, and not enough ‘A’ shenanigans and crime-solving. But with these last few episodes, I feel like we’re finally ramping up to an exciting midseason finale.
Which is why, I think this week’s “Touched by an ‘A’-ngel” could be the best episode we’ve seen yet this season. ‘A’ gets personal with one of the liars. Spencer finds a new lead as to the mystery between Ian, Jason, and Garrett. And Aria finally gets rid of that Jason vs. Ezra triangle. I hope.
Pretty Little Liars (s02e10): Touched by an ‘A’-ngel
All the pre-season interviews with the cast were right: ‘A’ really has set her sights on Emily. Just this season alone, ‘A’ has created a fake college letter for her, poisoned and put her in the hospital, and sabotaged her relationship with Samara. Now this week she’s leaving only A’s in her alphabet cereal. (Really, how long would it take to painstakingly do that?)
And then ‘A’ even gave Emily a personal massage. Yes, you heard that right. The fact the person who’s been terrorizing them, and might have even killed Ali, gave her a massage is so creepy. I shudder just thinking about it. It’s no wonder Emily decides to tell their therapist about ‘A’ and everything next week. Sounds like a great idea to me for someone else to be in the inner circle. I just worry it’s going to mean curtains for Dr. Sullivan. And not the frilly lacy kind.
Could Aria have stuck her foot in her mouth any more this week? Not only does she not want to believe her friends about Jason, but then goes and questions him to his face about the photos. Wow, straight to the point, Aria. Jason’s excuse is that Ali took them and he was just going to frame them as gifts for Aria. That is one freaky gift, Jason. Who would want that?
Then, Aria has the nerve to be jealous of Ezra talking with Jackie after all the skulking she’s been doing with Jason. (Granted, Jackie does seem to be kind of a bitch.) And she just blurts out to Ezra that Jason kissed her. Well, that’s one way to let it all out in the open. Thankfully, all seems to be right between Ezra and Aria by episode’s end. But I wonder how come Aria gets let off the hook so quickly after deceiving him for so long?
Jason, apparently, has a lot of skeletons in his closet. After looking through Ian’s yearbook, Spencer discovers Jason, Ian, and Garrett were part of some club called N.A.T. or Latin for ‘We See All’. What were Jason and Garrett talking about all steakily on the porch?
My favorite part with Spencer is when she confronts Ezra to tell him about Jason and his creepy ways. Though it seems there may be repercussions from this act as Ella sees them talking in his car.
Oh, and Hanna gets a new enemy in her step-sister. While not as mysterious and creepy as ‘A’, this new girl could give ‘A’ a run for her money in the terrorizing department. You should have learned not to talk bad about a girl and her mother, Hanna.
